This was Coons 7th straight win, but he lost the next day to Jerry Zhou at the SWCC.

any results from wednesday?
ReplyDeletewho will winn top section
ReplyDeleteI would put my money on D. Paitrick.
ReplyDeleteIn the recent Chicago Open he played up a class and finished with an even score.
good choice.
ReplyDeleteHow about second section?
ReplyDeleteRyan Jayne
ReplyDeletealso good choice.
ReplyDeleteIvan - Any idea why they posted the results mid tournament? Have you ever seen that before?
ReplyDeleteThe reaosn was probably because Cardenas' member ship was going to expire before the end of the tournament and they did not want to deal with any cmplications.
ReplyDeleteIvan
You've got to be kidding. I would be shocked if a TD made a decision based upon membership. I'm not even sure if there's a provision in the USCF rulebook for doing this.
ReplyDeletewhy does it matter anon
ReplyDeleteWhat choice do they have? I realize it is a bit unfair towards the USCF but if the tournament was over and he wasn't a member anymore, they would have no choice but to not count every game played by him during the tournament. I'm sure if he wouldn't have done this, you would be mad at him for not counting the first three games!
ReplyDeleteI think the better choice was for the Club to pay the $7 (If Cardenas did nor renew it himself)for a one time membership, after all it was the clubs responsibility to make sure that all players were current before the tournament ends.
ReplyDeleteH.L.
why dont Betaneli or santarius or ashish or maybe even parker play in these tournaments? it would be a lot stronger.
ReplyDeleteWhy should they? They wouldn't win any money. Its a lot of time and money they would probably rather spend on big tournaments against better players for more money. I don't blame them at all.
ReplyDeleteit would be idiotic for betaneli or santarius or ashish to play... they are much stronger than everyone else, if they win all their games they gain maybe 10 rating points, if they score 6/8 they lose rating points. betaneli lievs in madison, why would he drive all the way to waukesha every wed. for 10 weeks to win a 25 dollar purse when he has to pay $3 rent?
ReplyDeletewhat would he gain from playing an expert?
It really looks like anyone's title in the top section. Everyone is easily within striking distance. My money's on Paitrick though.
ReplyDeleteSchneider will win 2nd section.
ReplyDeleteany results from the past few weeks?
