Racine used to hold two very strong open tournaments in the past which was stopped last year. Are they going to start it in 2008 again ?
I have a lot of nostalgic memories with that tournament. I had my worst performance in 2005 when I won 1, drew 2 & lost 2 games. Started the tournament with 1800+ rating and came back to 1700 !
But in 2006 I came joint third (with Ashish Vaja) and clear first in Class A. I also crossed to 1900 in that tournament.
I talked to a member of the Racine Chess Club recently about their annual tournament (I believe they only run one per year now). They did not hold the tournament this year due to medical problems of the directors who normally run the tournament. They hope to get back with it in 2008. Wishing the Racine Chess Club a healthy and successful 2008!
