  1. Nice getting the draw against Anderson. What happened in that game?

  2. Selby had a chance to win a pawn on move 21 and have a much better position, but he chose 21...c6 which gave me a chance to equalize:

Thanks, I am still kicking myself for the loss. I don't mind losing when I have been out played by my opponent, but I was too eager to get my k-side pawn storm going that I missed a simple fork.

It's a trade-off between tactics and simple strategy.

In my last game I was up a knight and rook (and lost on time in a winning position), but I was so focused on tactics that I misjudged how simple the strategic win would have been by comparison. Difficult to turn off that tactics button sometimes in a tactical game.

What I am saying is that you could have done the opposite, seen the fork and missed a strategic win, which seems just as appalling to oneself after the fact.

It takes time on the clock to think about _both_ possibilities. It's easy to think of one or the other and then just play that for the sake of time; or even worse when one doesn't know which they should go for, strategy or tactics. ;-)
